How NeuroFelicitology Works

The Main Therapies/Practices of NeuroFelicitology
The brain’s structural ‘re-engineering’ to enable the experience of increased happiness and decreased unhappiness is accomplished with five therapies/practices that rectify the five structural ‘de-formities’ of human brains.

  1. Selfless Service.  Volunteer work is one example of selfless service. Working to protect the environment is another example. Yet another example is doing something for family or friends or colleagues at work without expecting anything in return. The single criterion for qualification is that there should be no personal benefit to be gained from it. Traditionally, in most cultures, this was described as ‘performing all actions in the spirit of duty’. To the extent one works diligently for the ‘Not I’, to that extent one is sacrificing personal gratification for the ‘Greater Good’. To the degree I ‘put others first’, to that degree l diminish the hold of my personal interests. Long and steady practice of this discipline weakens selfish attachments and aversions to the point that they cease being impediments to life satisfaction and happiness.
  1. Charity.  Donating generously to charities is a powerful antidote to Discontentment and Greed. Charitable giving needs to be as anonymous as possible – lest it inflate the ego – the false I. Charity / Giving is, of course, much broader than money. It is the spirit of giving that matters. The many ways of giving include time, love, acceptance/non-judgment, kindness, help, support, and so on.
  1. Self-Control.   Impulse control is gained by sustained practice of self-denial. Regular fasting is one example. Other examples include resisting desires for things that are harmful, like unhealthy foods, and exerting the will to overcome resistance to doing things that are beneficial, like exercise. Also, learning how not to react to unfavorable situations with irritation or anger.
  1. Attention Focus.  The ability to concentrate attention on any subject whatsoever and then sustaining its focus is developed through the practice of meditation.
  1. True Self-Knowledge.  NeuroFelicitology demonstrates with straightforward reasoning that the True I is the Cosmic Force-Field that manifests and governs the Universe. Science describes this Force-Field as the Laws of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, etc. While the Universe is constantly in flux, the Laws are changeless in all aspects, i.e., the Cosmic Force-Field is Uniform, All-Pervading, All-Encompassing, Eternal, Infinite and absolutely motionless. Thus, the True I is the I of everyone – the Universal I!

The End Result of NeuroFelicitology Practices

The fruit of intense and sustained NeuroFelicitology Practices is an impregnable ‘House of Felicity’ that the practitioner dwells in perpetual Joy and Peace, practically untainted by unhappiness.

The House of Felicity is built ‘brick-by-brick’ with the NeuroFelicitology Practices.
The Foundation

  • Right Diet
  • Right Exercise
  • Right Sleep

Without this firm Foundation, it is very difficult to summon the energy and the resolve to engage in the main NeuroFelicitology practices that follow.
The Base

  • Selfless Service
  • Charity
  • Self-Control

The Foundational practices result in a healthy body free from physical maladies. As a result, the NeuroFelicitology Practitioner can summon the energy and the will to take up the above Base practices. These practices result in a brain relatively free from the grip of selfish desires and negative emotions. Such a brain is now capable of fruitfully pursuing the practices that follow.
The Pillars

  • Meditation
  • True Self-Knowledge

The twin pillars of the House of Felicity are (1) Ability to establish and maintain Attention Focus for an extended period of time, which is developed with daily Meditation, and (2) Clear and distinct knowledge of the True I. Without these two, true Felicity cannot be achieved.
The Capstone

  • Contemplation

The capstone, Contemplation, is a practice that ‘joins’ the pillars and ‘completes’ the house. To Contemplate is to focus attention on the True Universal ‘I’. When attention slips and the False Personal I is experienced, it is repeatedly brought back to the True I.

The End Result

Perfect Felicity, the fruit of intense and sustained NeuroFelicitology Therapies/Practices, is attained when ‘I’ is continuously experienced as Space – the Infinite, All-Pervading, All-Encompassing, Uniform and Eternally Changeless Cosmic Force-Field that is Expressing, i.e., Creating, Powering, Shaping and Dissolving all Existence.
